I find that when I walk and when I drive, these are excellent times to turn my thoughts towards a conversation with my Abba Father.
Our focus at church this past week was prayer and it was a gentle reminder to me that God wants us to be in constant communication with him - in any form that we are comfortable with. It is not how we pary, but that we pray! He wants our channel of communication to be open at all times for all reasons and for us to receive His blessings and His leadings.
Looking for the God sightings and being aware of the times He is active in my life has become very important to me. I am sure there are many times I do not even realize that He is guiding me or watching over me and He IS constantly!! How awesome is that? To be ever in His thoughts and presense is such a comfort to me and I cannot imagine living any other way.
If I can be a small example of God's love to others - I will freely do that. It opens up my life and fills me with so much more of Him. To talk to Him about everything, not just my problems or concerns, is also important and I try to praise Him and be thankful for my blessings.
There is a model of prayer called ACTS :
- A is for Adoration. When we begin to pray, we should focus first on God. It’s appropriate to worship Him, instead of just making prayer what we want. In the Psalms, David shows us good examples of how he exalted the Lord. Psalm 145
- C is for Confession. Now it’s time to get right with God and confess any recent sins. 1 John 1:9
- T is for Thanksgiving. We can thank Him for all He has done since the last time we have talked. There is so much that He has done for us. Let’s focus on our many blessings and show Him our appreciation.
- S is for Supplication. We’ve worshipped Him, confessed our sins to Him, and thanked Him. Now, it is time to tell Him about ourselves and ask for His help.
