With the rain yesterday came time to spend talking on line and via phone to family and friends. Kim called and I was filled in on the California trip...with a promise of more to come and inquiries into what I have been up to since July. Tom and I talked and I encouraged him to find his peace and rest. He is running on empty and I am not sure that I am helping his situation. I place this relationship in God's hands. I would love to see Tom back to health and happiness - so I am open to wait! Then a friendly voice greeted me after a long break. David called and filled me in on his summer and why the silence. So again, I encouraged peace and rest from hard work. I then wrote to Jonathan to assure him of his presence in my thoughts and prayers. I believe God uses us as channels and I pray that it was a cool balm on these men's lives to connect with me last night. I will continue to look for the positive and try to remain upbeat and joyous - that is the way I wish to live and to help others find that is pure gold! We are all "refined" along the way and sometimes the fire seems to consume us, but then we realize that God is working His purpose out and the reflection He wishes to see is Himself in us.
That reminds me of a wonderful song "Refiners Fire"
Purify my heart,
let me be as gold and precious silver.
Purify my heart,
let me be as gold, pure gold.
(Chorus)
Refiner's fire,
my heart's one desire
is to be Holy;
set apart for You, Lord.
I choose to be Holy;
set apart for You, my Master,
ready to do Your will.
Purify my heart,
cleanse me from within
and make me Holy.
Purify my heart,
cleanse me from my sin, deep within.
